isar: in three paintings, gilberto botti shows sections of the isar landscape along the path from the zoo into the centre of munich. embedded in the curtains of trees that line the river, tall chimneys and a railway bridge appear like the abandoned buildings of a heroic landscape — a seemingly silent, solitary place outside of time, and yet in the middle of a big city, in the winter of 2020.

gilberto botti
gilberto botti is an italian architect, designer and painter. a former professor of design and building construction, he has devoted himself to his artistic work since 2017 and was part of spazio from the first exhibition in july 2021.
biography
gilberto botti studied architecture in florence and venice and graduated from the department of theory and history of architecture at iuav. between 1983 and 1991 he worked as an architect, lecturer and writer in modena and organised international symposia; with pier luigi cervellati he planned the redesign of the historic market square and the restoration of the old town hall of modena, and drew up the city’s guidelines for the conservation of its 19th- and early-20th-century districts. from 1995 he taught as a professor of design and building construction.
