lebanto makes furniture in cantù, between milan and lake como, a town known as the city of furniture. it was founded by emanuela terraneo and alessandro pozzi. its language is quiet and sculptural, and the material leads the form: natural stone, hand-bonded glass and solid oak are the expressive surfaces, shaped to show depth, veining and transparency rather than to decorate them.
the collection keeps to a few archetypes and refines them over time instead of adding new ones. many of its tables share one structure, a round top on two upright planes that interlock beneath it, carried out in oak, in marble or travertine, and in glass. the studio describes the pieces as carrying a nordic and eastern restraint inside an italian structure: warmer than minimalism, quieter than design.
nothing is made for stock. production starts when a piece is ordered, in small wood and stone workshops of the district, where surfaces are finished by hand. lebanto works directly with architects, interior designers and showrooms, and offers bespoke pieces from first drawing to delivery.
lebanto has shown several times at milano design week and at icff in new york, and at dutch design week in eindhoven.
